Ms. Garcia was born and raised on the Soboba Indian Reservation. In 2005 she received her B.A. in Native American Studies from the University of California Riverside. Ms. Garcia has taught Middle School Social Studies and Culture at both Noli Indian School and the Soboba Preschool, located on the Indian Reservation. Prior to her teaching career, she worked briefly in Cultural Resource Monitorning working to protect and preserve the ancestral lands of Luiseño and Cahuilla Nations. Ms. Garcia is also currently serving her third term as a Board Member for the statewide non-profit organization, California Indian Basketweavers Association, which works to promote, perpetuate and educate traditional California Indian basketweaving and its practices. Currently, Ms. Garcia is the Cultural Program Manager for the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians where she is working to create and establish the Cultural Center and Research Library.
